Review: Me, Myself, and Why

10 Apr

Me, Myself, and Why (Cadence Jones, #1)Me, Myself, and Why by MaryJanice Davidson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Readathon Book #4 – Yet another great novel by MJD. This one actually has a bit more meat to it compared to her other series so it wasn’t as fast a read as I was expecting, but still a fun read all-around. The main character… err… characters is a girl(s) with a split personality disorder. The three personalities that she has are all hilarious in their own ways. I think my favorite of the three was Adrienne just because she was SO bizarre and random. LOL! Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series to come out.

Midnight Readathon Thoughts

10 Apr

Zzzzzzz…. Zzzzzz…. Zzzzzzz….

huh?  wha?  Oh… yeah… time to wake back up… it’s still read-a-thon time!

Just took about a 30 minute nap so as to get refreshed a little before digging into the last 8 hours.  Hopefully I can make it all the way through now.  Think I’m going to take a quick shower to get myself recharged and then dig back in.  I won’t give my update of page count and such until my next posting as I’m hoping to complete another book or two before the next post, but I’m still at 3 books complete and I’m in the middle of 3 more.

Definitely enjoying myself and am really glad that Ann and Mel talked me into doing it this year.  It’s been lots of fun.  Now… for that shower!  🙂

9.5 hours down, 14.5 to go!

9.5 hours into the read-a-thon and I’ve now completed 3 books… yay!

Grape City by Kevin L. Donihe – 105 pages

The Faggiest Vampire by Carlton Mellick III – 99 pages

Emily the Strange #1 – 152 pages

In Process:

Me, Myself, and Why? by MaryJanice Davidson – page 150 of 302

Heaveworld by Cullen Bunn – page 19 of 85

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – page 43 of 384

Total Pages Read so far:

Boyfriend is napping and I’m not sure exactly what his stats are.  I know he’s finished two books at least and is in the middle of another one or two.  I may take a cat nap in a bit but will probably wait until after dinner if I can.  We’re supposed to be picking up pizza I believe, though that could change.

I did enter one challenge earlier after having said I probably wouldn’t bother with them.  I was just skimming blogs and found one that was a quick answer.  Haven’t looked back to see who all entered or if a winner has been announced though.  I’m still feeling a little overwhelmed with so many things to try to keep up with.  Having a great time though and enjoying knocking out several books on Mt. TBR!  Hopefully I’ll be free for the next read-a-thon, but October is a busy month so too early to tell now.  S’pose I should also wait and see how I finish this one out and how I recover from it.  LOL!

Okay… back to the books!

Readathon Lunch Break

9 Apr

Just finished reading Carlton Mellick’s THE FAGGIEST VAMPIRE (see “review” in previous posting) & now having a quick bite of lunch while blogging and catching up with some other posts online.  I think after doing so I’m going to try to finish off that boring Emily Strange book I started earlier and then I need to pick something else from the mountain of TBR books.  Not sure what is going to fit my mood at that time, but I’m leaning towards doing a re-read of either Harry Potter 1 or one of Jeff Strand’s books as with the latter I know I’ll be treated to a bunch of laughs.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their reads… more later!

Review: The Faggiest Vampire

9 Apr

The Faggiest VampireThe Faggiest Vampire by Carlton Mellick III
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Book 2 completed of the readathon. I’ve read some of Mellick’s work before and really enjoyed it. This one isn’t one of my faves by him. I knew the book was aimed more at kids, but it still wasn’t quite what I was expecting when going into the book. That probably made me enjoy the book a little less than I would any other time.

4 Hour Mark

9 Apr

Four hours into the read-a-thon and I’ve only complete 1 book, but that’s okay!

Grape City by Kevin L. Donihe – 105 pages

In Process:

Emily the Strange #1 – page 44 of 152

Me, Myself, and Why? by MaryJanice Davidson – page 60 of 302

Total Pages Read so far:

So it looks like I’m averaging about 50 pages per hour, which isn’t too bad given I usually read about 1 page/minute give or take and the fact that I’m tweeting, facebooking, and blogging quite actively as well.

We did take a short break during the peak of the storm to take care of the dog and watch the hail coming down as well.

Now… to get back to reading so I don’t lose that 50 page/hour average.

Less than 2 hours in…

9 Apr

Taking a break from reading to eat the yummy eggs and hashbrowns my boyfriend made me.  I just finished book 1 however, see previous blog post.  It was only a 100ish-pager though so short and sweet.  I don’t read very quickly so in order to get through numerous books I need to “cheat” with the short ones.  🙂  I think next up on my list will be a comic compilation…

Emily the Strange 1

Now to go check into a few blogs of fellow readers and also tweet/facebook a bit.  After eating I will dig into the above.

Happy reading everyone!
